The world is facing a very serious disease, coronavirus. The virus was discovered in Wuhan, China and spread in 90 countries so far. The death toll reached more than 3500 so far. The conformed cases of coronavirus are more than 100.000 so far.
It is high time for all people to take safety precautions to avoid this virus. It is high time to unite against the spread of Coronavirus.
Many people ask about the reported supplications (duaas) that they can recite to protect them against coronavirus.
Muslims believe that whatever befalls them is a test from Allah (God) and they accept it. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“Never a believer is stricken with a discomfort, an illness, an anxiety, a grief or mental worry or even the pricking of a thorn but Allah will expiate his sins on account of his patience”. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
Is Coronavirus a Punishment from God?
There is a misconception that coronavirus is one of the soldiers of God against the people of China as a result of torturing the Muslims in Uygur. If it so, why it spread outside China and attacked many countries that have nothing with the people in Uygur.
God is not the enemy of humanity. God is the Most Merciful and Most Compassionate.
5 Duaas to Keep Coronavirus Away from You
Muslims are required to remember Allah all the time. Remembering Allah entails great rewards both in this life and in the Hereafter. Remembrance of God drives away and breaks the devil. It removes the cares and worries of the Heart. It brings joy and happiness to the Heart. It strengthens both body and Heart.
Muslims believe that besides dhikr and duaa, they must take all safety measures to protect themselves against any disease.
Among the reported duaas that one can say to protect him against coronavirus are the following:
1- Prophet Muhammad said, “He who recites three times every morning and evening: ‘Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma’as-mihi shai’un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama’i, wa Huwas-Sami’ul-‘Alim (In the Name of Allah with Whose Name there is protection against every kind of harm in the earth or in the heaven, and He is the All-Hearing and All- Knowing),’ nothing will harm him.” (Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi)
2- Khawlah bint Hakim (May Allah be pleased with her) reported:
I heard the Messenger of Allah saying, “Whosoever alights somewhere and says: ‘A`udhu bikalimat-illahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaqa (I seek refuge with the Perfect Words of Allah from the evil of what He has created),’ nothing will harm him until he leaves that place.” (Muslim)
3- The Prophet used to supplicate: “Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal-barasi, wal- jununi, wal-judhami, wa sayyi’il-asqami’ (O Allah! I seek refuge in You from leucoderma, insanity, leprosy and evil diseases).” Evil diseased include coronavirus, swine flu, cancer, etc. (Abu Dawud)
4- The Prophet said, “He who eats seven `ajwa dates every morning, will not be affected by poison or magic on the day he eats them.” (Al-Bukhari)
5- Abdullah ibn Khubaib (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said to me, “Recite Surat Al-Ikhlas and Al- Muawwidhatain (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas) three times at dawn and dusk. It will suffice you in all respects.” (Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi)
Beside these reported duaas, one should make istighfar (seeking Allah’s Forgiveness) all the time.
One should also seek halal income and avoid any illegal sources of income.
What to Say When Visiting a Coronavirus Patient
If it is medically safe to visit a coronavirus patient, you can recite the following duaas:
1- The Prophet visited a Bedouin who was sick. Whenever he visited an ailing person, he would say, “La ba’sa, tahurun in sha’ Allah [No harm, (it will be a) purification (from sins), if Allah wills].” (Al-Bukhari)
2- Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:
The Prophet said, “He who visits a sick person who is not on the point of death and supplicates seven times: As’alullahal-‘Azima Rabbal-‘Arshil-‘Azimi, an yashfiyaka (I beseech Allah the Great, the Rubb of the Great Throne, to heal you), Allah will certainly heal him from that sickness.” (Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi)
